West Ham made a host of signings over the summer with most of the money spent during the transfer window going towards attacking players.
The likes of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko were brought in for sizeable fees and, while there should be much more to come from the new West Ham duo, they have had major impacts in all three of the east London club’s Premier League victories this season.
Going forward, though, Manuel Pellegrini’s squad could still do with some fine-tuning with right-back just one area the Hammers Chilean boss could look to strengthen in the near future.
Summer signing Ryan Fredericks is currently out injured, though he has played second fiddle to Pablo Zabaleta since joining the club, while everything in this moment of time points towards the Argentinian departing the London Stadium at the end of the season when his contract is up.
With that in mind, Pellegrini would be wise to start seeking out a new right-back now. Despite the impressive form of Zabaleta this term, full-back, overall, is one of the weakest areas of the squad.
On the other side to Zabaleta, Arthur Masuaku gets beaten at left-back too often while Aaron Cresswell has not maintained the high level he was playing at during his first couple of years at the club.
Considering all of that, full-back is the area of West Ham’s squad Pellegrini must next look to bolster if the Hammers are to reach their goals under the former Manchester City manager.
